Best Fantasy Movies of all time

Fantasy films have almost always raked in the cash at the box office. The public seems to enjoy the world of total escapism, the world so far away from their own where fabulous things happen. As the popularity has never waned it is hard to say just what is the best Fantasy film, after all, everyone’s taste is different, but there are several that lead the pack.

  • Labyrinth, along with characters created by Jim Henson (of Muppets fame), Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) must traverse the labyrinth to rescue her baby brother from Jareth (David Bowie as the Goblin King). It is a fun family film – a must watch.
  • The Wizard of Oz is the ultimate fantasy film. What starts out in black and white, when Dorothy lands in Oz she is welcomed by a burst of colour. It is one of the first films to use Technicolor. With witches, flying monkeys, talking scarecrows and a splash of magic this is the ultimate fantasy film.
  • Clash of the Titans, The Princess Bride and Never-ending Story were staple viewing in the 1980’s, these days fantasy viewing is more Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.
